Yemisi Blake is one of the exciting new generation of creative whizzkids on the block. Still only 23, he is an Artist in Residence at London’s leading arts centre, the Southbank, where he was previously an Emerging Artist in Residence. Yemisi is a talented poet and photographer; he has worked extensively with young people running creativity, poetry and performance workshops; he was one of the 400 chosen young creatives and future leaders to tour China in 2009 as part of the British Council’s UK-China Exchange Programme; and over last Christmas/New Year he took part in a tour of India: 400 young people aged between 20-25 who travelled by train 9400 miles around India in 18 days. This annual project called Tata Jagriti Yatra is designed to foster links between the young people themselves, and the communities they visit en route.
This Sunday Yemisi is taking part in Intergenerational Journeys at the South Bank Centre as a spin off of this tour – looking at some of the issues involved in Here’s the link. Maybe if you fit the age group you might want to pop along and find out more about it?
And here are some of Yemisi’s fanstastic photographs from the trip.
